Tattoos while pregnant? Acceptable or no?

I have read article after article and talked to professionals and they all say different answers. Some say yes, if the facility is clean and needles and ink have not been used. Some say no, because they're not sure how the ink will affect an unborn fetus. However there are no studies shown how ink will affect an unborn fetus.

What do you think?

Even if the ink is safe, that's not going to shield your growing baby from feeling your elevated stress hormones as a result of the pain inflicted by the process. I know it's not that bad (pain wise) but still...

I've canceled three apts I made when I found out I was pregnant It isn't worth it. Im addicted to getting tattooes but my little boy is the most important thing to me. All of the people I have talked to about it (professional artists) are 100% against. Since there are no studies on it it shouldn't be done.

Most artists won't tattoo pregnant women because you bleed more easily when you are pregnant and your inflammation pricess is different. I was going to start a large leg piece right before I found out I was pregnant and had to cancel. Gonna have to wait a few more months 😊

Don't get me wrong, I adore my tattoos and have been itching to get another one! But I am trying to steer clear, just because I don't want to risk it. My tattoos can wait 10 months, I needed to slow it down anyways 😹😹

Have you thought about the infection you could get from the new tatoo? And if the infection got so bad that it required you to get hospitalized and medicated then it could be extremely harmful to your baby. How would you feel if that tatoo you got did something harmful to your baby? Why not wait 9 months and get the tatoo after? If the tatoo that meaningful?

No no no. Don't risk it. I'm covered in tattoos but refuse to get any work while pregnant. It's just not worth the risk.

I think it would be fine after the first trimester (ink concerns). I'm not getting a new jane, but I will be getting a quick touch up.

Since I've gone into some level of shock with all my tattoos, I'll pass until I'm not pregnant. My worry would be the stress the process puts on your body and how that can affect the baby.

Also, most professionals won't work on you, and I know the consent wavers I sign ask if your pregnant.

Whether or not there are studies on how the ink affects the baby, there are risks of blood borne pathogens even in the cleanest shops. And while it may not affect you terribly, it's likely to affect your baby. I love tattoos, but no. And any good & trustworthy artist will refuse to tattoo you when your pregnant.
