Pregnant and getting teeth pulled?

I am 3 weeks and 5 days. I got braces on three days before I found out I was pregnant. Because my mouth is small I need to have two top teeth pulled, I want to get them  pulled April 1st during spring break so I don't have to take any time off. My first baby appointment is not until April 8th. I tried to talk to my doctor about getting my teeth pulled, but they won't talk to me because I have not had my first appointment with them. Is it safe to get my teeth pulled?

I work as a dental assistant. Most of the time, unless it is an emergency, they don't recommend any treatment other than standard cleanings until your second trimester. And many times say to save extractions until after the baby is born. Talk with your dentist and make sure they know you are expecting.

My dentist wouldn't even put my new crown on until I reached the second trimester. Now my wisdom teeth are coming in and I'm in pain but they said unless it proves to be an emergency they will not pull them. They even made sure to wait till the second trimester to take care of any cavities. I understand that it may be different for every dentist but I appreciated the precautions they took. I know they have had woman come in and get work done without telling them they were pregnant and then later blamed for any miscarriages.
