Will You let your child believe in Santa, Easter bunny, tooth fairy, ext?

I read something that someone wrote saying they weren't going to lie to their children about the tooth fairy and ect because the child shouldn't have to experience being lied to by a parent. I personal think that is so sad for the kids. Having an imagination is not the same as lying. I've never met anything who was emotionally destroyed by believing in a simple story. What do you think?

I will. You grow up knowing they can't possibly be real, but when you're a child, it's just the most real thing. It's no harm imo. Let kids be kids, let their imagination run wild.

When I was a child holidays seemed so much more exciting and magical. Even now as an adult I I miss being younger and having the imagination to believe in things like Santa, the Easter bunny, and the tooth fairy. These things are part of childhood, and I intend to allow my future children to experience them.

I wouldn't lie to them - but I WOULD tell them the original stories and contexts. I enjoy studying folk lore and these fairy tale creatures all stem from pagan beliefs and stories. I'd probably create a story book and tell my kid each respective story on that respective holiday. And of course I'd tell them about the modern contexts too, just so they don't feel left out with their friends.

I'm honestly kind of conflicted on this. We do Santa and Easter Bunny with the kids, but it's gotten kind of frustrating for me because I think some of the traditions are out of hand.

My oldest went to private school for a year before we started homeschooling, and it was so annoying when the kids would compare what they got. Like, there was a little girl who got a My Little Pony figure for every lost tooth. My little one didn't understand why the tooth fairy wouldn't bring her one too. We just do not have that kind of budget, so I told her the truth about why her tooth fairy was different from everyone else. It actually worked out great because now she keeps her teeth in a treasure box, and I give her $1 per tooth. She's saved most of it, and it's been a good lesson.

Now we have a friend who does all sorts of stuff on St. Patrick's day with leprechaun traps and leprechauns coming to play tricks (move furniture, dump toys, etc.). I am not into those kinds of elaborate pranks, so again, I told my oldest the truth. She's obviously catching on because she asked me point blank about the Easter Bunny, and I cannot lie to direct questions like that.

It's weird though because the more I'm honest about it, the more I like it. My family is on a tight budget and it irks me when magical creatures get all of the credit when we buy treats and presents. IDK I think I'm having more fun being on the level and just enjoying the holiday fun together instead of focusing on stuff.

Personally? 
No. I won't tell my kids about Santa, the Easter Bunny, or any other mythical creature.
They can have an imagination; if they believe Santa exists on their own, I'll go with it. I'm not going to crush that for them. 
But I will not be the one to instigate it. 
Because I want to set the precedent that they can think on their own, and they can bring those thoughts to me.

I personally never told my child it was others that told him. I went with it and he still believes bless them. He's nearly 9. I think he knows some truth but refuses to believe it cause he thinks he won't get nothing bless him. I was really young when it got spoilt for me and nothing was never the same. Abit of excitement never hurts any one. After all its the imagination that keeps you young xx

Santa and the Easter Bunny, no. Christmas and Easter is NOT about Santa or a bunny so I don't want them to believe in them. I will teach my kids not to go around school saying they are not real because some children believe in them. It worked for my cousins. 💖

I think the tooth fairy helps tbh loosing teeth can be quite traumatic for some kids  so the tooth fairy leaving money is a positive outcome , my boys 7 he doesn't believe anymore kids have told him at school that santa easter bunny etc arnt real and it does spoil the magic for him , my daughters get ever so excited it's all part of growing up when they're nature enough they will stop believing none of them question it

I will definitely. Being a child means having an imagination and secret stories and little bits of excitement! I loved all that as a child and didn't feel lied to at all! It's just good fun. And anyway, kids grow out of it themselves and don't really care. We loved searching the garden for eggs from the Easter bunny and I used to get a letter from the tooth fairy when I lost a tooth, those are special memories to me!
