Glucose test?

Question

I'll have my glucose test in about 7 weeks and I'm just wondering what to expect. I know you can't eat or drink before, and they'll have a sugar drink for me there. I'm mostly wondering how I can expect to feel after. Were  you tired, did you feel fine after? Any experience you have would be awesome. Thanks!

I think a lot of places do it differently. I was told not to eat or drink. Not even water. But I felt dizzy afterwards with a stoMach ache. It was to much sugar for me.

A lot of places do it differently. I'm in the UK. I had to fast from 12 the night before and was only allowed one small glass of water. Wasn't allowed to brush my teeth beforehand either. Basically I got there and they took my blood. Then they gave me the sugary drink which honestly didn't taste that bad. You drink it within a few minutes and then they tested my blood an hour later. And another hour after that. I brought some magazines to keep me entertained. Bring some food to have afterwards like a banana or something so you don't feel weak. Once I had eaten I felt completely fine. I passed mine. The 1 hour ones I hear have more chance of failing.

If it's the 1 hour, they should allow you to eat before. Avoid carbs and stick to pure protein. I had 3 scrambled eggs 2 hours before my test and passed with flying colors. Protein helps your body digest carbs.

You can have water just a heads up. I was tired and hungry after. I ate right after and took a nap!

I had mine on Tuesday and they never said I shouldn't eat or drink before hand and hat I would only have to fast if I had to do the 75mg drink. The drink I had tasted like extra sugary orange pop and they ask you for a urine sample. They took 3 viles of blood. Other wise it's just the same as when you did you first set of blood work. I felt sick because I am bad at giving blood and I looked at what she was doing. She also used a smaller needle so the blood was moving really slow. I'm starting to feel sick now just typing this. You should be fine unless you're like me lol

I was told to eat before mines. I just felt like I had a sugar rush during the test and after I worked that sugar out and crashed at home.

I just did mine. You don't have to fast but I wouldn't eat any carb heavy or sugary before. I did mine first thing in the morning. I ate some cheese and drank a bunch of water before I left the house. It doesn't taste as bad as I thought it would. It's better to just chug it down really fast. I felt totally normal after.

Wow, sounds like it could go a lot of ways! I'll be getting the rundown from my OB at my next appointment but she's not great at explaining, so I really appreciate your advice.
