Is it normal to have cramps?

I'm almost 7 weeks pregnant with my first and I've been having cramps on and off but feel almost like a menstrual cramp and it's accompanied with lower back pain is this normal?!

It only seems to be later in the night before I go to bed and when I wake up in the morning but other than that it doesn't really happen that much throughout the day I just thought it was really strange

It's normal to have cramps during early pregnancy. However, if it gets too painful, or if you start spotting, go to the doctor asap. 
I'm 6+4, my crampings got more and more painful ( little contractions actually) so I went to see my obgyn, turns out I have placental abruption. So Bed rest for me for 2 weeks!

I'm 9 weeks and still having them. Some days nothing, but I get them randomly throughout the day. Lightly, not period cramp pain! 
Also lower backache and hip aches
