Irish twins?

Question

Anyone else trying for Irish twins ( babies born in the same year or less than a year apart)?  I had my daughter on 2/11/15 and we want Irish twins! That means I don't have much longer to become pregnant. Any advice?  And if anyone has Irish twins how is it?

Wow. I am currently pregnant with an Irish twin. Was not planned, however am trying to be positive about the pregnancy. REALLY wish I would not have read this thread. I have done a lot of research, but apparently not good enough because some on here say my baby is at more risk for health problems. Thank you for that information, weird because my Dr never said any of this to me.

Major lesson learned here, stay away from these threads. Where you would love to come for conversation and support...this is just full of negative people.

Irish twins are babies born within a year apart but in different years. Dutch twins are babies born the same year. 
So if you have another baby born in 2015 they will be Dutch twins not Irish.
If you have another baby born by February of 2016 not later then they are Irish twins.

My husband an his sister are Irish twins. They 5 days shy of being a year a part exactly. And my youngest brother an sister are Irish twins with 2 weeks shy of being exactly a year apart.

If you do your research you will actually learn that back to back pregnancies is not the safest an cause quite a few risks. I thought about Irish twins but honestly I don't think the possible risks an complications are worth it. Most people do not plan on having children so close it just accedently happens because they chose not to wait the waiting period to have sex. I highly reccomend you do the research on what this could do to your body.

I'm not trying to be rude at all, but is this even a healthy thing to have as a "goal"? It doesn't seem like the stress of a newborn would be good for a pregnant woman, and having two infants at two different stages in life at all times seems like one would not get the attention they'd need. I'm really not trying to be rude, I was always told that 2-3 years is the ideal age difference

My twins were born 14 months after my middle daughter (unplanned). There are pro's and con's to having babies so close together. It is REALLY hard to handle a newborn and a young toddler. It is expensive having 2 babies in diapers at the same time (I had 3 in diapers). Your existing child doesn't get to be the "baby" for very long. The closeness in age can lead to a lot of competitiveness, especially if they're the same sex. On a positive note, you still have baby gear on hand. Once the siblings are older, it's actually pretty convenient to have them close in age (school, sports, etc). Siblings close in age tend to have a close bond.

I had a  baby July 2013 and and one July 2014 , but the consent fighting between two is driving me crazy!  It's a lot of work!

I say keep trying and go for it if that's what you want. A friend of mine had a baby June, her second the next may and her third the following year in early May. She loves it and the kids get along great

I'm an Irish twin. I'm 06/21 he was not 06/05 the following year.  It was OK, we were best buds at first. Then come grades 5-8 and we would have literal knock down drag out fist fights... Hated each other. Once he started high school with me things got a little better. We've always had a strong bond. He's the only one I miss during difficult times (he moved away)

My brother and I are 3 days short of 8 months apart. My birthday is October 30th and his is June 27th.
