Waters breaking at 28 weeks?

Question

I was in work earlier and I felt really wet down there, when I looked at my pants, there was a big damp patch, sorry tmi 😳
I phoned my midwife and she has told me to lie on my left side for an hour and to wear a pad, when I stand up I have to check the pad for more leakage. 
I'm so worried 😢

This is the way I test to see if it's my waters - it's not recommended so it's totally down to u if u were to do it this way.

I usually clean my hands with antibacterial soap (incase it's waters u don't want to risk infection) 
I use my middle finger and put it as high as I can and cough 3 times. 
Whatever comes out I'll have a look at. Rub between 2 fingers. Sometimes it can still look very clear but when u pull ur fingers apart slowly it forms a little white puddle. Or if it gets sticky when drying - then I know I'm fine.

If ur still unsure, get them to check with a speculum. They don't have the paper that can test like in the us but they will get u to cough when the speculum a inserted.

Remember it could be ur back waters. It might not be the main thing or it could be a slow leak that repairs itself. If it was to truly come away u would feel constantly wet. And I mean constantly, they broke mine with Kameron and it was to the point i kept saying I was peeing myself xx

My good friend had her membranes rupture at 27 weeks and was put on hospital bedrest until she went into labor at 32 weeks. It's absolutely something not to ignore. She even went to the ER and they told her it was nothing and she had lots of amniotic fluid, but then her OB sent her to the hospital right away.

As embarrassing as it is, sometimes I pee a little without even realizing or feeling like I need to pee. Maybe that's what happened!

Do the sniff test. If it's sweet, it's amniotic fluid. If it's ammonia it's pee. 
Could just be increased discharge though. All very normal when u hit the 3rd trimester xxx

Keep an eye on it but I just want to let you know that it may just be discharge. I have lots of watery discharge... Just part of being pregnant. Good luck !

Thanks for all the comments girls, I did what the midwife said and I don't seem to have leaked anymore, she was happy with that and the fact I wasn't having any pain. 
If it happens again I have to phone her back.

I don't want to be alarmist but you should definitely go into the hospital & get it checked.  I had a gush of fluid the other day, they thought it could be premature rupture of my membranes - tests were inconclusive or negative for amniotic fluid but now my fluid levels are VERY low & the baby is at risk.  I'm only 20 weeks & thought it was just watery discharge but you can never be too careful.  I hope it all works out fine for you!!
