Metformin stomach issues- help/suggestions?

I've been on this medicine since Jan 15, 2015. I take it 3x times a day with food. I have some unpleasant side effects. I've gotten past the horrible upset stomach.

What I've been dealing with lately is feeling like the pill is stuck in my throat. It doesn't happen until about 10 mins after taking the medicine. It doesn't matter if I drink a whole 8 oz glass of water. Since I take the medicine 3x a day, I have this feeling all day long.

Does anyone know how to make this side effect go away? I'd rather have the diherra back, at least that only last 10 minutes.

I always take my medication with food. The pain starts about 10-20 mins after swallowing, so I know it's not from physically swallowing the pill, it's from the release of the medicine in my stomach.

Try the ER version. It's much better and you can take the full dose once per day instead of 3.

Have you tried taking the pills with food, like yogurt or applesauce? Sometimes that gets them down better than water. And try the extended release version if you haven't already, I had no stomach issues with that kind!

It's not like a hurt but really uncomfortable. I don't know what to do. I'll ask on Monday.

I'm also on metformin (for weight loss). I would talk to your doctor about it. if it's making you hurt that bad definitely talk to the doc. That's not a fun position to be in. When I first started taking it I always felt nauseous .hope you feel better
