When does 2nd trimester start? And massages.

I'm sure this has been brought up before but I've looked online and it seems to be mixed answers.... Does the 2nd trimester start at 13 or 14 weeks?

I've also scheduled a massage at 13 weeks and that has mixed reviews too. Are massages safe at this timeframe?

I went to a special prenatal place at 11 weeks that has pillows that lift you up from the hips and allows you to lay on your stomach side safely, so good!!!!

I got a prenatal massage at 15 weeks and it was awesome! Just make sure you tell them you are pregnant and that they have that service available! I had to sign a paper that said my dr said it was okay to have them too.

You can get a massage at any point in the pregnancy as long as they are trained for prenatal. Some places just don't do them before 12 weeks because insurance doesn't cover the risk of possible misscarriage being blamed on the therapist befor that time frame. Everyone is different but I marked my second trimester at week 14.

Got a prenatal massage at 13 weeks.  It was heavenly! Just talk to your masseuse and make sure they are trained in prenatal.

As for the trimesters it depends on the Dr/book/app.  Somewhere week 12/13/14.  My doctor uses 14 for 2nd and 28 for third as it is more of an even split and easy to remember.

For massage-  I am getting one tomorrow at 13 1/2 weeks.  I asked the doc on Tuesday and she said no issue.  She said there is nothing about a massage that could cause issues and that they are especially good for relaxation in pregnant women!

I always get monthly massages. When I got pregnant, I told my masseuse and she said it was no problem. I've had one at 5 weeks, 9 weeks, and one this weekend will be 14 weeks. No problems!

Talk to the massuese. I'm sure it's just an issue of education.

I scheduled myself for a massage for my birthday next month and they said they dont do it unless you are past 14 weeks

Someone scheduled me for a massage when I was 10 weeks as a gift (they didn't know I was pregnant) and when I called up the place to let them know they said they won't do massages until 13 weeks. I would check with you massage place.
