My SO and I live with his father. He is elderly and unable to live alone, and in return we get to live here rent free. We take care of all the upkeep of the house, take him to his doctor appts, hair appts, shopping, etc... Well, he is a handful. He's just a lonely, miserable old man that isn't happy unless he's complaining or putting someone down. We usually just ignore it, but lately his daughter (my SO's sister) has been complaining to their mom, who in turn calls my SO, that we don't do enough. Because he complains the house isn't clean enough, and dinner isn't made every. single. night. at some predetermined time, Etc etc etc... it's what he does. But today I had enough, after another phone call to SO: are you cleaning the house? No... No... We live in abject filth, really!? Soooo I wrote them a group message on FB basically saying: we clean, we cook, we make sure he has food when we don't, please respect our privacy, and understand he complains to us about you just as much as he does about us to you... we just ignore it. So the sister decides to rebuttal with: your bathroom is so disgusting I'd rather pee outside, and so would everyone I've ever brought over there. And she's sooo sorry if I take offense to that. W.t.f. is there a way for me not too? For crying out loud I scrub and sanitize that bathroom every single weekend! Yeah, the tub has a permanent black haze in areas because this house used to be a bachelors pad and the guys had dirty work... but that crap doesn't come out. And it's not my fault the walls are stained yellow because they all smoked. But apparently, since I am currently without a job, in their eyes I'm supposed to be little Suzie home maker: specifically she said I NEED to do dishes TWICE a day and never ever leave a dirty dish sitting overnight. After that I just let it go... I said my peace and apparently she's not going to respect that. 😰
