Cervix height?!

Honestly, I have no clue what this means. What do people mean by checking is your cervix is soft, high, low etc. someone explain?

When you check your cervix it will feel like a little dimple. It'll take a little while to be able to tell quickly but depending on where you are in your cycle can make it be higher or lower than usual(high or low) and the dimple will be bigger or smaller (open or closed) and the muscles (?) Around the opening will either be harder or softer(hard or soft). Don't expect to be able to tell the first time you check it. Do you know how to check it?

It only started to make sense to me after I had been measuring for a while. I had to learn what "high" or "low" meant for my vaginal and what felt "soft" or "hard" for my own cervix. The first week or so wasn't enough to put all the relative information into context.
