IUD? Do any of you have one?

Question

I am going to have one put in April 20. Can you give me some ideas on what to expect. I read the info about it but i want to hear it from real people that are experiencing it right now.

I have the skyla and absolutely hate it.  I am having to have it surgically removed thursday due the fact it has moved and not in the correct place!

I have had horrible cramps since day one. Cannot wait to have it out.

Had mirena for about 2 months now, couldn't be happier, no pmdd (pre menstrual dysphoric disorder) no cramps, no pill popping, no setting alarms for reminders, insertion was painless, never had kids, hallelujah! Amen. Lol

When I had my copper IUD put in, the doctor couldn't get it in so she sent me to the hospital to have them put it in. They had to give me a needle in my cervix and freeze me in 7 places, all around to get it to relax and open up so they could place it in. It was so scary and painful and I ha a lot of cramps immediately for the next few days. Periods were so intense! Heavy and lasting an average of 10 days. Spent so much on feminine hygiene.. Mine ended up moving out of place and caused bleeding/infection so I had it removed by my doctor. Because it was out of place and I was sexually active I had to have a pregnancy test, they did 3 and they were inconclusive so I had a blood test and thank God it was negative! So I was put on antibiotics for 10 days. I was advised not to get another one. Worst experience. Would not recommend.

I had the paraguard and absolutely hated it!! I got it five months after having my daughter and I made my periods feel like labour pains. It was horrible, bleeding on average 15 days out of each month.. Intense cramping .. And then it expelled itself a few days before my removal appointment.

Ive had it twice.. Back in 99 after my second child..kept it in for 10 yrs..got pregnant a month after taking it out in 08...i never had any symptoms..it was like it never was there.

At first My partner felt it doing sex after maybe 5 months it went away I guess the string got softer anyways I LOVE it one monthly check and that's it

I just had my Mirena pulled out today. This was my second time round with the plastic hormone t. I used it a year and a half the first time and 6 months this time. I had regular cycles starting up after the first initial month which was like a long crampy period for me. The insertion was not pleseant, so do follow the advice to take some pain relievers beforehand. I had mine removed today because after a month of exhaustion and cramps and bleeding I went in to find I have a uterine infection. Dr. Says that sometimes the bacteria can travel up the strings and into the uterus. I wasn't exactly loving all my monthly cycles (they often mimicked pregnancy symptoms too) so I didn't hesitate to have him pull the Mirena out. That process was painless.
