Do You HAVE To Do This At Baby Showers ?

I'm just wondering do you HAVE to open up the presents in front of everyone? My hubbys cousin's baby momma didn't . 
I was wondering if its a custom or is it a choice ? And do you just open the gift , show everyone , and say thank you or what ? I HATE being the center of attention 😒 <-- thats my main question in case anyone gets comfused . 
But id Also like to ask , in some races I guess they have games at baby showers I'm wondering what are the games that are played besides that drink apple juice out of a baby bottle . And does the mom have to participate?

I think it's more polite to open gifts in front of guests because it is nice to say thank you... And people enjoy watching your happiness from opening the gifts they got for you and your growing family. On that note.. I know what you mean I feel a little awkward being the center of attention too and opening presents feels weird because even when I do love the gifts I feel like a thank you seems fake or not as great a reaction as it deserves.. Idk how to explain it I guess I'm a little awkward myself. But yeah I'll be opening my gifts and participating in the fun and games of a baby shower to show appreciation for all they've done for me and my family :) have fun with it :)

Most people want to see all of the adorable baby items and etc. Just open quickly ;) you don't have to play games, but there are some you can find on Pinterest that aren't lame or embarrassing.

I think opening presents is the norm. People want to share in the excitement of all the cute baby stuff. I understand if u don't like being the centre of attention but remember the guests will be looking more at the presents than at you. 
Some game ideas:
Ask everyone to bring a baby picture of themselves and people have to guess who is who
Guess the baby weight, arrival date, gender etc
Baby related quiz e.g. celebrity baby names, weird facts etc

The games are meant to be entertaining and keep people occupied, since it's not a cocktail party. Just like at a bridal shower, it is customary to open gifts to show appreciation to the gift giver. For people who win a game, you can have a little prize...even things from a discount store are fine. I once won a stationary set. You can also just give away the centerpieces. Win a prize, take a centerpiece. I don't know where you live, but Lowe's has pansies and Gerbera daisies already where I live.

My friend had "shower bingo" with the presents. Made it much more amusing, people weren't all just sitting there awkwardly.

No you don't. I had two baby showers and in neither one did I open gifts. I just feel like I'm already tired to have to open gifts the same day of the party. What I did was the day after the party I would have my husband record me opening the gifts and then it would be just another memory to have but in the comfort of my home!

There is a baby gift bingo if your playing games. The guest fill out a bingo sheet of what you might receive then when you open them they mark it off. It takes a lot of pressure off of you cause they are occupied with the game if that will make it any easier for you?

You don't HAVE to but it's pretty common. Some people get bored and they feel like they have to wait for their gift to be opened before they can leave. If you're really uncomfortable with it then skip it :)
