I always felt that if you have to hide something from your SO you shouldn't be doing it.

It's not cheating but disrespectful. Disrespect from your SO is almost worse than cheating, I feel. If a person respects you they won't do things like flirt or anything that leads to physical cheating. My husbands and I outlook is this; if you wouldn't want the other person doing it don't do it yourself. I wouldn't like it if he flirted with another women so I don't flirt with other men. If I wouldn't want him hanging with another women one on one guess what? I don't do it. This works for us. So just talk with your SO if it bothers you and be open with him on what makes you uneasy and what makes you comfortable. Communication is key to a successful relationship.

What worries me is that hes hiding it from you. And if youve said that those things bother you, like complimenting other women, but he continues to do it in front of you, thats a whole other kind of worry because he should respect your feelings more than that.

Only part i see a problem with is the hiding of it.

I'm very flirty by nature but that does not mean I'm interested in anything beyond a friendship with someone.. I am also very open about my conversations with people and my guy can read my messages and if he's uncomfortable he has told me about what and why we trust each other, the end simple. Typically if he is uncomfortable it is due to something a male friend said more than something I did.
