Smokers?

Question

Anyone pregnant and a smoker? I am pregnant with my 3rd child and I smoked with my first two. Yes I know it's awful but this time I'm trying to quit I got a vapor but I am still seriously struggling. Any advice? Help!!

I was a pack a day smoker for 11 years. Quit cold turkey when I got my BFP. The thought of what each cig was sending down to my helpless baby did it for me. Over 2000 toxins with each one!!! I tried to quit many times in the past to no avail. But with this pregnancy it was like smoking wasn't even an option or a choice. That helped me. You can do it. You just need self control. As long as your telling yourself it's too hard and I can't then you won't. Think about baby first & good luck

I smoked with my first and im not proud of it but she came out perfectly healthy (10/10 apgar), weighed 9lbs and was 2 weeks late so she defiantly didn't meet the expected low stats they doom you with...

But this time around I quit cold turkey at 3 weeks 4 days (the day after I got BFP) and im now 35 weeks Tmro and still not touched one. It's so hard to do but good for you on wanting to stop. I dunno if Id trust a vapour to be honest they isn't enough trials been done on it for my liking. Maybe try the patch or somthing.

I would suggest taking a diff route. Google what smoking does to the baby. Everytime you feel like having a cig go look at that pic...

Don't use the vape my midwife went crazy at me for it she said they haven't been researched enough to know what damage they can cause to a growing baby , I cut down at first having a lollipop or chewing gum when I craved I cut to 3 a day then  it started to give me headache because I was going so long in between  so I stopped , but I did smoke with my others just not many and they were all ok , I cut to 5 a day with my other children I just couldn't stop .... good luck though either way it is hard x

I would talk to your doctor about safe ways to quit. While cold turkey or looking at pictures may help some, it's unfair to assume it will work with all. Cigarette addiction is a very real affliction which I would recommend working with your health care provider to amend. Best of luck to you!

You need to look up effects of smoking on unborn baby with pictures of the child in the stomach of a mom who smoked. If that won't make you quit I don't know what will. They suffocate in there.

Congrats!!! We’ve been ttc for about 2 years and been through 1 miscarriage during that time.  We are both heavy smokers. He is a heavy drinker too. With my first, I smoked until about 5months then quit cold; he came out fine. I’m trying to quit now limiting myself to one in the morning, but it’s hard. It’s 2 days before my cycle and I took a test this afternoon. It was negative. I am just going to wait, but it’s so nerve wrecking. To answer your question, if you’re thinking about quitting, quit.

I quit with vaping before I even knew I was pregnant I vaped for two weeks and smoked half of two cigarettes on separate occasions thinking I wanted one, they tasted like shit I put them out and pulled out my vape. I found out later I was 5 weeks 2 days (I'm now 17 weeks 2 days) pregnant and quit vaping too. I relapsed one time a little over a month ago because I was stressed out/pissed off at my SO and I put it out and cried myself to sleep because I felt like a terrible mother and thought I killed my baby. Went to the OB everything was fine, I haven't touched one since. You just have to remind yourself how bad it is for not only your baby's health, but your own health.
