What to expect after a d&c

Hello ladies,

It looks like I had a silent miscarriage at 5w5d. I should be 9 weeks now. I'm going in to confirm on Monday and then will be scheduled for a d&c. How soon after a confirmed missed miscarriage did you have your d&c? What was the recovery like? I have two other children and I'm just trying to prepare myself for what I'm about to go through. Thanks everyone.

Just wanted to offer some reassurance to anyone having a D&C following miscarriage...
I've just arrived home after a long day in hospital.. (Op was a little delayed) ..
I was petrified to say the least, I was given 2 pills to soften the cervix, experienced very mild cramps after an hour or so but nothing of concern.... I was more worried I think about the anaesthetic and not waking up.. But the needle palava was fine, I was well looked after, everyone very empathetic when I had a mild panic! 
Woke up afterwards, quite emotional but relieved! It was done and I feel we can move forward from this god awful sad situation! 
I currently feel mildly crampy, had some co-codamol and am feeling well... I feel optimistic, the worst is now over.. Not sure about tomorrow but if anyone wants an update, just ask!

They gave me meds to help me miscarry and it was the most awful experience I've ever had in my life (I was in horrific pain for 4 days and emotionally drained). And after all that I still needed a D&C and went in for surgery the same day I went to the doctor to find I hadn't passed all the tissue. I was literally in and out of the hospital within 2.5 hours and had very little pain and light bleeding afterward. The procedure is only 15-20 minutes. The prepping for surgery takes longer though. Recovery is quite short. My doc said I just had to take it easy for a couple of days (no heavy lifting or standing for long periods of time). I was so scared to have the surgery, but it was a breeze for me and wish I had gotten the D&C over taking the meds. It really isn't that bad at all. Hope this helps and I'm very sorry for your loss.

I waited 12 weeks after my confirmed MC to have a d & c. Totally weird I know, but I was soooooooo terrified of taking meds or going through a procedure that I just kept waiting and waiting. Eventually they told me I had to do it.
It was over so quickly and I literally had zero pain and zero bleeding afterwards. I even went out to a nice dinner the same night.

Confirmed second MC on May 8 and had another d & c yesterday. I wasn't going to wait it out so long this time. Dr told me to expect more pain and bleeding this time but again I've had none! I owe that to my dr. He is so good.
I was a little tired yesterday after the procedure but that's about it. I was able to eat a normal dinner and even went back to work today. Haven't taken any pain meds

I actually just got home from having a D&E which is kinda like a D&C.  I lost my baby at 15 weeks.  I am tired but so far not horrible painful,  having period like bleeding too. Just emotionally exhausting.  You will do fine and don't let anyone scare you.  The hospital car was excellent.  Now just time for my heart to heal.  Prayers too you!

I had my d and c the day after I found out I miscarried. Physically, it didn't affect me at all. I was tired the day of the procedure but just fine afterwards. It was more an emotional toll than anything!

I was supposed to call to schedule a D&C today actually. But everything passed naturally yesterday. I had my first appt 2 weeks ago and my doctor told me if nothing passed on its own in two weeks to call her. I had a blighted ovum so maybe mentally it was a tiny bit easier to deal with than if there was a fetus. Still wasn't easy. No choice is easy unfortunately. I'm sorry I can't help you with any D&C advice, although I've its instant closure and the least painful and you know you are "clean" down there. That would have been my choice if I didn't pass yesterday.  A natural passing is possible, but requires tremendous strength. The pain wasnt as bad as I've heard it is with misoprostol either.   ❤️ best wishes to you dear. So sorry for your loss.

I had a d&c the day after blood work confirmed mc. I was 8 weeks & I'm 8 days post d&c. I had mild cramps for 5 days maybe and only bled for 5 days. I only had to use RX ibuprofen for pain. Everyone's different though. Hugs & prayers to you. Sorry for your loss.

I found out I had a blighted ovum and 2 days later I had the D&C... I had some bad cramping right after the surgery and the next day but no bleeding. About 5 1/2 weeks later I got my first period. It was an easy surgery but it was very emotionally draining. I'm sorry you lost your baby 😢

I was at work the next day riding horses I was on antiflam codine and pandol tho
  I found out and decided to go naturally that lasted 3 weeks of nothing happening and then opted for d and c I hated feeling preg when I wasn't as soon as I woke up I just felt like I was on a bad period and within a day normal sad but normal
