Labor emergency? Or?

First time mom and have been wondering about this....27 weeks here.

When you went into labor was it...

-drop everything and speed to the hospital to ER
Or
-ok I think I'm going into labor honey, lets just time contractions and casually call dr and drive to the hospital?

Really just a curious question and I keep thinking of when the day comes what it will be like!

I think it depends!  For the most part time contractions. Once they become steady or closer together or even unbearable then take that drive to the hospital. Now if your water breaks I think you should go not matter what to the hospital!  For my first the mucus plug came out during a midnight pee... After that I started feeling cramps. So on my own I started timing them (they have apps now!). They started 14min apart, then 10, then 7. Once they hit 7 they become more uncomfortable. So I took a shower (shaved 😳😱) then woke up hubby. By the time I got out of the shower they were 1-2 mins apart and last 30 sec. Now it was time to wake up hubby and drive!!!  He was nervous and forgot how to get to hospital (thank god for gps!)

So I think it all depends! You listen to your body and it will tell you what to do!

I always thought it would be one of those waking in the middle of night water gone and rushing around like a crazy woman huffing and puffing like you see in the films but it was totally different and to say I didn't go in till Id been in back labour for 7 hours with contractions 2-3 mins apart (27 hours all togther) it was really chilled, we even stopped of at McDonald's drive through for breakfast 🙈.
This time I'm being induced so it's gonna be even more chilled I think.

I'm glad you asked this question, being weeks away from delivery I can't help but to wonder what labor is going to be like, you hear so many different stories!

I had always been told I would know when I was in true labor. NOT! It started like period cramps for hours. Then progressively got worse. I was in labor with my first for 32 hours. But since it wasn't extreme pain in the beginning, we had time to take our time.

I thought mine was my whiplash acting up 2 hours after I puked and went into transition he was here. So he was a bit more drop everything and go. Had I realized it was back labour I had all day.

I started getting very crampy pains and decided to time them for an hour. They got progressively worse so I told my hubby and called the dr. My dr said I was in labor and to come in. But my water never broke on it's own so once my dr broke it my contractions got really painful very fast and although I progressed quickly, I was in labor for 24 hours and pushed for 5 long hours. I couldn't labor at home because I had tested positive for group b strep so I needed to have medicine 4 hours before my water broke to protect my baby from infection.

#1 I woke up to feeling my water trickling, went to the washroom and there was the gush of water. It was 730 am and the hubby was awake asking if I was coming back to bed. It was then that I showed him the giant wet spot, to which he asked if I just peed the bed haha. But slowly we started getting everything together, the last minute stuff like chargers and stuff like that. No contractions and I needed to be induced. 
#2 I was in early labour for two months! Wasn't really doing anything though... Then again at night, my water broke. There was so much water I was reduced to wearing a dress with a bath towel between my legs! I went to the hospital mostly because I just couldn't stand the bath towel even though I still had some time I could have laboured at home.  Was getting contractions but they started to slow down, so did the water level, and again, I was induced. they had to re-break my water too. 
Now 26w today with #3, we'll see how this one goes :p but both calm overall.
