Low iron?

Anyone else have low iron and having to take an iron supplement? I didn't have this with my first so I'm wondering what's different this time.

I started having to take iron right from the beginning and through a recent blood work test they are getting me to up my intake because even after taking the iron supplements my iron Is way lower then it was in the beginning!!!!!

This is my 3rd. All my levels are slightly low despite taking iron...but doc says no concern bc baby sucks up a lot of the rbc's to grow. My one but of advice is to also take Magnesium. Good for you and also counteracts propensity to cause constipation.

Started taking an iron supplement about 2 weeks ago. The dr said it's fairly common for women to become anemic when pregnant due to a lot of them not having proper iron stores prior to pregnancy. I'm so glad I'm on the supplement now! I was so tired all the time, was experiencing some light headedness, and didn't look remotely healthy do to sunken in eyes with giant bags and now I feel great! It's totally worth the occasional heartburn.

I am taking an iron supplement. I didn't have to take one with my first, but this pregnancy is totally different.

I have been anemic in all four of my pregnancies. The iron is no fun but it will help. It will make you constipated so you'll want to add fiber to your diet and drink more water. Also it could make heart burn worse. But it is essential to take it if your doc says you're low on iron because being anemic comes with the risk of bleeding out at birth.
