Has anyone had trouble breast feeding/pumping and had to go to formula?

I have a hard time sometimes. One of my nipple a is inverted so I use a nipple shield and it works pretty good! My milk hasn't come in yet so I don't know how this will go..he was born 3 days ago and I'm worried nothing will come in

Yes I tried nursing for the first two weeks but my baby was never satisfied and she actually ripped skin off my nipple. I tried pumping once my nipple was healed but I was only getting 2oz each time which wasn't enough for my daughter. Then I tried supplementing formula and pumping breast milk to relieve engorgement but slowly less milk would come out. I've coped with the fact that I can't breastfeed my daughter but she's getting the nutrients she needs and she got all the good colostrum in the very beginning. I'm actually happy I'm not the only one feeding her and it takes some pressure off of me.
