That depends. But I say no. My oldest friend happens to be an ex. Same with my husband. And my husband and I are secure enough in our love and our relationship to be okay with it.

I have never understood why people want to remain friends and hang out with their exes.  They're an ex for a reason.  I do not talk to or want to be around or hang out with anyone who was an ex of mine.  It seems highly inappropriate for me to hang out with a guy I used to have sex with as a married woman... It's just weird.

Not if they are your actual friends. If you don't like them and never talk to them then why bother keeping them in your life. You don't just throw away good friends beacuse you were once more then friends

Why would marriage change that? I have exes that are friends or share a lot of the same friends with me, it's hard to avoid some of them. If you and your SO are secure, or shouldn't matter. Marriage, though it is a special bond and commitment, is also just a piece of paper that gives you tax benefits. If you are friends with an ex, marriage shouldn't effect that, unless you were keeping them in your life because you needed a "backup plan", in which case, you skulls have dropped them a long time ago, like when you decided that your SO would be a suitable spouse.
