Honeymoon question!

How far in advance do you have to place your honeymoon rooms and events and such if you're wanting to go somewhere like Hawaii or Cancun or Bora Bora? I know those places are pretty cheap in the off season, but how far in advance do you have to book hotel rooms and such? A few months, a few weeks, etc? If you want a good hotel, anyways.
