Do you yell at your children to go to sleep?

Question

My boyfriends sister yells and screams at her 2 year old to go to sleep almost every night and I can't help but feel bad! I know by now he should have a schedule and shouldn't be up at 11 or midnight but I feel bad when she tells him "THIS IS RIDICULOUS!" 
"WHY CAN YOU UNDERSTAND YOU NEED TO SLEEP" and just yells and yells :( I don't want to be this way with my baby.

That's so sad, that poor little boy probably has so much anxiety toward bed time. Screaming at your toddler is not going to make them sleepy, it'll just make them scared and confused. I hope someone can make her change.

If she's letting him take naps anytime after 4 then he's probably not going to want to go to bed 4 hours later. My daughter has been on a schedule since she was born, bath before 8 and bed right after. Now that she's 2 her bed time is 9 and I lay her down usually with a cup of milk and close her door almost all the way, and she's out till morning. But if she has a late nap, anytime after 4, then she wants to be up till 11 or later.

Uh no, not productive and it's a 2 year old so it's not like they understand logic and reason. She needs to develop a better routine for them and get them used to it. Toddlers can be a pain, but she's not handling it the right way.

No my 3 are in a good bedtime routine , my 3 year old goes at 6-6.30 she doesn't nap and is up at 6 everyday , my 5 year old goes at 7 with a story , my 8 year old goes at 7.30 and reads a book himself and goes to sleep after he's finished , one thing I've always done is kept good tea time and bedtime routine because at thee end of the day a mom needs to relax and and unwind before going to bed herself and children need a good amount of sleep to be attentive at school if children don't sleep well they lack attention and get annoyed real quickly it's not fair to let them rule the roost and sleep whenever ! and a 2 year old should be read a story and put to bed at 7 at the latest and naps cut out by pre occupying them untill bedtime it works so much better , if they don't have routine and structure then they are going behave like this and think they can do what they want to , it leads to a whole stressed household and it's not fair

Age age 2, I don't agree at all! I certainly don't yell at my DD but she's nearly 5 and good god can that child procrastinate! I do have to use a firm NO and I have told her she's being ridiculous now and that I'm not interested anymore etc but I don't scream. She just needs a very firm tone but only plays up like twice a week! Whereas my friend has two girls, 5 and 2, who have NO proper routine and are up until midnight most nights as she refuses to raise her voice and it's painfully obvious that the kids have absolutely no respect for her at all! You're there to be their parents, not their friends, but yelling and screaming is borderline abuse in my books! I play constantly with my DD but one look or changing the tone of my voice when she goes to far is enough to make her readjust her behaviour and then we're playing again! Screaming just induces anxiety which causes them to play up even more! I'm a firm believer that if the child is being 'naughty' then the attitude of the parent is usually the cause of any further outbursts!

I yell at my daughter for the simple fact that she just does not sleep. She does not take naps, and is in bed at 8pm everyday. When it comes to be 10-1030 at night and she's screaming and throwing things because she still wants to play it gets frustrating. She knows right from wrong, and when she needs to do something. When she chooses not to then yes she gets in trouble. Not every kid is raised the same way nor does every kid respond to the same treatment/parenting style. If her son is crying when she yells or you can tell he doesn't understand then she should try something else to get him to listen. She needs to find what is best for her and the child
