Selfish or juat over thinking?

Question

I'm currently 14W4D pregnant with baby #2. Not sure on gender just yet. We have everything saved from our 2yo daughter. Just curious if it seems selfish to have a shower if we do end up having a boy & a diaper party if a girl..idk if I'm just over thinking it, but I would like to be able to welcome baby #2 like our daughter was.

I was going to host my own baby sprinkle (instead of shower haha) with this one and on the invites I'm going to put that gifts are appreciated but not necessary, close family and friends will probably want to get a thing or two and everyone else can just help us celebrate having a new baby in our lives :)

I think it's selfish. I think you get one shower for your first... And after that, it's up to you. If a friend or family member hosted a 'sprinkle' for clothes/blankets for baby #2... That's ok, but asking for another round of gifts is a lot. Just my opinion.

I'm in the same boat still have everything from my 2 yr old daughter but we're having a boy.  I'm not having a shower I'm just selling all of my girl stuff and using that money to buy boy things and I bought a cozy cover caboodle for the car seat so I don't have to buy a new one

I think that it is very common now days to have showers for 2nd and even 3rd pregnancies. No one is obligated to come or buy you gifts and people usually like to do those things. I say go for it. I think I will plan to do one for this baby, too.

I've never had a baby shower. I'm pregnant with baby #2. I wouldn't know where to start. Not only that I like buying bits as I got along. I've just brought a money pot to which everyone said they'd prefer to give me money as I've brought pretty much everything so far. I'll top it up weekly like I did my first child and put it towards their first holiday in a few years. The last pot we managed to have 3 little holidays as I was a single parent then and little one enjoyed it.

I'm going to have one. This time I'm going to do a coed one though so it's not so formal as with my first we had a baby shower and a dad-chelor poker party. It's great way to get people excited and involved in the life of the baby.

Where I'm from its not rude in the least bit. It's actually more odd not to have a shower, no matter how many children you already have.
