Celebrate pagan holidays? Or no?

Am I the only mom out there that does not celebrate pagan holidays? And instead still participates, but teaches their kids about the real reason about these major holidays and why they are being celebrated?

ALL christian holidays used to be pagan holidays. It was done so that it would be easier for the majority of Romans to accept the states new religon

Easter was a celebration of fertility and Spring before Christianity took it over for their Christ's resurrection--perhaps she is referring to that?

Hmmm, History lesson time for the Christians.
They incorporated the Pagan Holidays with the *newer* Christian holidays so Pagans would be more comfortable switching over to being a Christian....

I'm not really good at celebrating anything, but I do enjoy holidays, pagan or otherwise. I like to learn more about them each year because it helps me get a good feel of the culture. I participate in nearly all holidays, but none have a strong religious meaning to me, because I'm not religious.

I was just speaking with my husband about this about 8 hours ago. We are Christians. We teach about the birth of Jesus and the death, burial, and resurrection. I would not bring Santa or the Easter Bunny into it if I had my way. I'm not against it, I just find it silly. However, society makes that hard. In the grocery story line, the cashier says to my daughter "what's Santa going to bring you?" Well, now I have to have a conversation about Santa. She's only 3, so I can do what I want, but its hard. I made her an easter basket that I would just prefer to be from me and my husband, but I just know on Monday, people will be asking "what'd the easter bunny bring you? Did he hide eggs?" (Which I didn't because she's been to three egg hunts now as it is). Lol. Its just hard.
