Eloping?

Have you or would you ever elope? I'm pro eloping, don't have any desire to plan a big wedding or anything. I just want to have fun with my SO and maybe a few key ppl in our lives.

My husband look back at our wedding and wish we eloped. We spent so much money to have to most drama filled night of our lives. We lost some friends and even ended up leaving our church. If we could go back we would probably go to the courthouse with just our parents.

We had a semi-small wedding. Super easy, cost less than 500$ had it in a local park, pot luck BBQ, we made our own wedding cake together (he baked I decorated) and his grandmother preformed the ceremony. Amazing experience!! :-) Do whatever you feel comfortable with!

We went to a justice of the peace with our moms, ate cake and fried chicken, then ran off to the mountains for a private ceremony (literally just us and the dude running a log cabin wedding chapel) and a week in a secluded cabin. It couldn't have been any more perfect.

I got married in jeans and a t shirt and my hubby was in shorts. The only people there were my parents and the judge that married is. Stress free and amazing!! We got married outside on a beautiful sunny summer day and I wouldn't change it for the world!! We did have 2 wedding receptions because my family couldn't make it to his family's reception and vice versa but I didn't really have to do much planning for either so it was great.

I had a small, inexpensive wedding. If I could have a do-over, we would've either eloped, or had a small destination wedding on a beach. Much better use of money, way less stress, much more intimate.

Small intimate weddings can be just as fun as a big expensive wedding. All you really need is a marriage license, someone to perform your ceremony, and maybe some dessert.
You could totally elope, but some people (like your grandmother, your dad, or maybe his great grandmother) will feel like you are missing out on a fun part of life. You dad might have been looking forward to walking you down the aisle since you were born. Having a sweet little back yard wedding for about 25 people can cost as little as $100 to $500 total, depending on how thrifty and crafty you want to become.
Think about maybe having just a little party at the park, not an actual wedding. My sister in law and brother did this because they wanted to be married on a certain day and it happened to be a Tuesday. So the following Saturday they threw a small party with a sheet cake and some sandwiches. They received and opened wedding gifts at the party... It was almost like a birthday party! At the end we still decorated his car and they drove off with cans clankin'!!

I eloped! I didn't want a wedding. So the day after my birthday last year, we decided to get married! It was so perfect. He knew I wanted to elope and he wasn't extremely keen on the idea at first but we had talked about it for a long time. After we figured out the cost of a weddings opposed to eloping, eloping won out. Most of our family lives on the other side of the country. It just wouldn't be logical to have a wedding. Too expensive! So it ended up being just us and my parents. We went to the outer banks here in North Carolina and it was PERFECT. We've both thought about that day so many times and we both agree it was so special and perfect. We're so thankful we made that decision. I'd highly recommend it. I have no regrets at all.
