Going 7 months without a period.

April 2014 around the 20th I ended a period and I didn't have another one until November. I am a virgin so I knew I wasn't pregnant. Until that point my periods had been pretty regular. Is this something that just happens? I was going to go to the doctor but then they started back up again. Has this ever happend to anyone before?
