Ten-hour flight at 32 weeks?

Question

Before baby arrives, I wanted to fly home and visit my family. Problem is, it's a 10-hour flight, and I'd be 32 weeks. I will seek my dr's advice, but wanted to hear your experiences. Have any of you had flown long-distance at 32 weeks? Or how did you feel in general at 32 weeks? Thanks for your help :)

I felt fine at 32 weeks, and fine at 42 when I had my baby lol. Honestly I could've travelled no problem at all. Just check with your doctor that you have no risk factors and drink loads of water and walk as much as you can on the flight.

In Europe you wouldn't be allowed to fly after your 28 weeek. I wouldn't fly at this late time in pregnancy. It's VERY uncomfortable to sit with your very big belly at this time for 10 looooong hours.... And: you are risking a blood clot. Try to fly in your second trimester of pregnancy.

Pending all goes well, I'll be flying to Hawaii (6 hour flight) to be in a friend's wedding at 32 weeks as well... Would love to hear experiences. Dr says as long as I'm not having any complications, I'll be good (with a possible note clearing me to fly)!

I just took the drive from Vegas to Phoenix (this is by car, mind you, not flying--but travel is travel nonetheless), and my back was KILLING ME. I only was in the car for 5/12 hours and about the 2nd hour I was dying. I'm 24 weeks, but with twins.

I flew at 30 weeks. I flew from Tennessee to Alaska. Will never fly while pregnant again!!!!   And I got clearance from my dr to fly. Everything was fine. I has a great pregnancy.  Well during my flight I swelled up like a watermelon.  I was in pain. I tried walking around. Didn't help.  Anyway 4 hours after I got off the flight my water broke and I went into labor.  I was 4 hours from the nearest hospital.  By the time I got to the hospital my baby's heart stopped beating.  The dr that delivered her said she thinks the flight caused increased pressure inside my uterus and  when my water broke the pressure increased and basically cut off all supply to the baby. So do I recommend flying long distances while pregnant. No.  Regardless of what the dr says.  But it's you're body and you're baby. I for one will never take that risk again.

Most European airlines will allow you to fly with single babies up until 24 weeks on your own recognisance after 24 weeks you would need a doctors note stating your due date and that your in suitable health to fly.  Each airline will have its own rules so you'd need to check with them before you fly. At 8 weeks I flew 3 separate flights 40 hours to Bali for my honeymoon. When I managed to stay awake I throughly enjoyed myself but I slept twice as much for weeks. I was surprised how much energy it took sitting on a plan. You might be different but for me at 31 weeks I am getting quite tired again.
