How did you know you were having a miscarriage?

I'm pregnant, and am always worried I'm having one cause I bleed a little. What are the signs? Hope this doesn't hurt anyone, and do you know what caused it?

My cramps were more severe than just the cramping I had with my other pregnancies and I started spotting which turned to full flow the next day...

Weakness then cramping a lot worse than normal then the blood not like spotting then it passed and the cramps stopped

I woke up and I was bleeding,I had minor cramps rushed to the ER there was no heartbeat, our baby Stoped growing at 2 months 6weeks, and when we got back home I felt like I had to use the restroom and the sack came out, no pain I just felt like dizzy almost passed out because I had lost too much blood. We got pregnant 3 years later now we have a 2 year old son, I had the Mirena for a year and it's been really hard to conceive now.

I had cramps that started earlier in the day, almost like contractions. Then later in the day I started bleeding very heavily. I was extremely dizzy and weak as well.

Just started bleeding. Started brown, turned pink after 2 days then the day after it was pink it turned red and was a mid flow period. Never had cramps or pain and I had seen the heartbeat the day I started bleeding because my dr wanted me to check. Dr thinks I had scar tissue left over from my son's birth in August.

I had some bleeding and cramping (which can be perfectly normal in pregnancy). We had trouble dating the pregnancy. We never saw a heartbeat at any of my 4 official ultrasounds. The only time I saw a heartbeat was at an ER scan when I rushed in because I had some spotting. But my miscarriage wasn't normal, my body wouldn't get rid of the tissue on its own so I needed medication.  
The pathology report couldn't find anything wrong with the contents of the miscarriage. In all likelihood it was one of those genetic abnormalities that self abort.
