Pregnancy myths: Do you believe a baby's heartbeat can determine the sex of your baby?

So during my last ultrasound at 8weeks & 5 days my doctor told me that my baby's heartbeat was 174 BPM. He said the baby was on track & that the heartbeat was strong. The minute I announced to my family that everything was good, everyone kept saying that we are going to have a girl. I have heard of many old wives tales saying that if a baby had a faster heartbeat it was a girl & babies that had a slower heartbeat was a boy. A babygirl sounds wonderful but my husband is really hoping for a boy. He says he doesn't know how to handle a baby girl if she comes out like me. Haha (sometimes I'm a handful) :)
