Do I tell my actual due date?

My due date is Nov 5th and that is my nieces birthday as well. My niece was born with HLHS and passed away when she was two months old. I'm worried about telling my brother and sister in law that my due date is her birthday. I don't know if they will look at it as a blessing or if it will upset them.

I know it is highly unlikely that I will actually give birth on that day but I still am worried about telling the due date.

Any thoughts?

We found out we are pregnant on the anniversary of my father in laws death and my due date is his birthday. My husband just sees it as his dad's way of letting us know he's a part of this. Good luck to you and your family!

Awwww :( maybe just say it's the day before like suggested. Chances are it won't be that day anyway. But if it doesn't happen, hopefully it will bring a new joy to that date instead of what it has meant so far

I would look at it as a blessing! My nephew was born on the day that my best friend passed away, exactly two years after. And I was so happy that instead of mourning over death on that day, I got to celebrate life.

I just tell people that baby will come anytime in November, and since my midwife probably won't let me go past 42 weeks, we will definitely have a baby by dec 1.

If you are trying to be sensitive to their situation, perhaps you can say: "baby should be here by mid November at the latest!"

It's the truth and it honors your baby and his/her perfect timing :)

I feel like it takes the pressure off a "due date" because baby will come whenever he/she wants to come! :)

I would think it was cool and fate of your due date was the same day as her birthday

I would tell the actual date. Despite what happened it shouldn't take it away from being s special day for you. You didn't choose the date.

Try to make it a special announcement. If you are close to your brother and sister in law, maybe you and DH would consider making them God parents of your baby.

I would think that even a close date would bring them a little sadness. However, if you tell them the actual date, it could be such a special thing that your baby is due on such a meaningful day. Either way, it's going to bring up sad memories for them, but maybe this due date will make it bittersweet.

Tell them a date 2 days before/later? They'll never know, and you're unlikely to give birth at this exact day. :)
