Any military spouses? I need advice!

Question

I am due with my second child in about a month and I am lost when it comes to what to do with my first born when I go in to labor. We are an Army family and obviously not close to home. My FRG leader said she can watch my son but I honestly don't feel comfortable with it especially if it ends up being a middle of the night thing. Our other option is for my husband to stay with him while I'm in delivery, which we have talked about and he seems fine with. However, I don't want to take this experience from him. Has anyone else been through this?

I am in this same situation except my husband missed the birth of our first (deployment) so it is important to be there for this birth. We have a good friend who said she would come to the hospital and play with our older child until l&d is done and then he will hang with us and new baby until dad takes him home for the night. Then they will both come back in the morning. If it is in the middle of the night we will just bring him with until our friend comes. We have a back up friend too. That way we are close to our oldest in case he needs anything. I am going to labor at home as long as I can though to try and make it easier on my son and our friend!

I honestly became friends with my neighbor across the street. She's an older women, but very sweet. She can still move and groove so if I really need her to, she said she will watch my daughter. I also have my sister flying in to help me. She's getting here early, then staying till August while my husband leaves for 8 weeks after our twins are born. you could always try to make a friend with another child real quick.

Had a friend watch my son while my other son was born. I'm not a military spouse but at the time I was active duty, you will want your husband there...
