When do they start checking if you are dilated or not ? Is it on the 36 ultrasound appointment ?

They in the UK don't unles in labour or showing signs of labour. Also you only get a scan at 36 weeks in UK if you need one for medical reasons such as placenta Previa or diabetes or even small bump measurements.

I don't think they check for dilation at all. The only reason I know for a late scan is for health reasons. I didn't have a scan at 36 weeks, I'm 40 weeks now and haven't been checked for dilation at all.

They do not routinely carry out scans at 36wks here so your healthcare professional must and will have a reason to scan you. Maybe your baby was breech last time they did a belly exam. But I can assure you they are not a routine scan. I had one yesterday at 36+5 and 4 weeks before that and 4 weeks before that because I have gestational diabetes other wise I would have just had the two normal ones at 12 and 20 weeks

I don't have any more ultrasound appointments - my last was at 20wks. I guess the midwife does it towards the due date but I'm not sure. Would like to know though because I hate those kind of examinations.

They don't check for dilation at your 36 week scan appointment .... you must be high risk to have one at that point anyway I have scans 28 weeks 32 weeks 36 week's with this one and my pregnancy is high risk as my last 2 pregnancy my placenta has slowed blood supply and stopped working eventually , but what they usually tend to do at that appointment being High risk is to scan then monitor baby for an hour and baby's showing any sign of struggle they will arrange induction or section , if baby's in the wrong position they will arrange to turn then induce once turned , they don't check if you're dilating unless you're having contractions x
