When do they start checking if you are dilated or not ? Is it on the 36 ultrasound appointment ?

Im not having a single vaginal exam. Even once I'm in labor.

Usually yes, when you start to go in every week. But not every doctor or midwife agrees this should be a regular normal thing. Only if they feel it's necessary for some reason.

I had my first pelvic exam at 35 wks, now weekly. No dilation yet though, sigh.

Most doctors now dont check you unless you are having signs of labor. I got my first check at my 39 week check up last week because I wasnt contracting or anything. Had my membranes stripped yesterday to see if it will help me go into labor. 40w1 day and this is my 3rd baby so I am very frustrated. Lol

I never had a 36w ultrasound as they are not necessary-- unless docs have a medical concern it is not done routinely.  With my first I was checked for dilation at 37 weeks, and that is also elective, not necessary. Of course I had them check each week because I was curious!
