Does a positive opk always mean you are ovulating?

I'm on CD14 and it's the first cycle since getting my iud out. I had it out on March 28 and started my period on the 29th. I've been taking opks and this morning it was positive, at least I think it was! So does a positive always mean that ovulation is happening or are they wrong sometimes?

No. Positive opk means that your LH has risen to a level detectable by the opk. A rise in LH is part of what prepares your body to release an egg, but for a variety of reasons your LH can rise and your body can hold on to the egg (more likely to happen to women with PCOS). Hope that helps.
