Experience with weaning from nipple shields?
My daughter is 4 weeks old and we have been using nipple shields to help breast feed since the hospital. I know nipple shields are only supposed to be used temporarily and I have been working on nursing without them. However, trying to nurse without them is usually a traumatic experience for my daughter. I have been able to get her to latch a few times however 90% of the time she gets very frustrated and ends up too upset to even try latching. Has anyone else had success in getting rid of the nipple shields? Is it better to wait until she is a little older or should I try to wean off ASAP?
