Transgender loved ones
How has it affected you and the people in your life?
My sibling came out to our parents and me 2 years ago saying she was meant to be a woman. Thankfully, my fiance was immediately accepting, so she had someone in the house at the time that was non judgemental. Our dad acts like none of the conversations have occurred, that his second child is a heterosexual male. Mom was ok with gay, ok with bi, but is adamantly against transgender. She says her son will never be a woman while she is alive. It took me a bit to wrap my head around my brother of 18 years becoming my sister, but I told her that I ultimately just want her to be happy. Happily, I have now accepted it. I love my sibling no matter what, and if being a pansexual, non monogomous woman is what makes her happy, then im happy for her.
She's driving out tomorrow morning so we can have breakfast as a family. I'm excited to see her, but concerened how it'll be between her and the parents. I fear she can't be herself around them anymore.
