I am very interested to see how many moms here attempted a VBAC or succeeded in one. I am hoping to have a VBAC for my next child, after 3 csections and I would love to hear your stories, particularly VBACs after multiple csections.

I had a successful VBA2C, and it was so totally worth it! During my first pregnancy, I had very severe pain in my legs from a pinched nerve. I was sent to physical therapy, which helped the pain but did not fix the underlying condition. I went into labor naturally, but baby had issues with decelerations and I wasn't dilating well. After 9 hours of unmedicated labor (stuck in bed, natch) I gave into the pressure to have a CS. Turned out that LO was face presentation. During my second pregnancy, I had the same nerve issues but did the physical therapy exercises independently. Again, the underlying problem wasn't corrected. At 3 days post due, I went in for a biophysical profile and NST. Baby WS showing decels and low amniotic fluid. The doctor was willing to try induction since the half life of pitocin is so short and could be stopped quickly in the event of complications. However, LO got super stressed with contractions and I was only 1cm dilated. We mutually agreed that another CS was the best and safest way to deliver. Also, the midwife who was assisting joined us in surgery and held my hand for the whole procedure. It was a much better experience! When I got pregnant with my third, I assumed we'd schedule a CS. However, about 4 months into the pregnancy ACOG changed their recommendation on VBAC after multiple CS. The doctor/ midwife practice that I was seeing was onboard with the new recommendation immediately and suggested that I try to labor again. I started seeing a chiropractor to help align my hips and back properly, and I continued to use the physical therapy exercises for additional support. I ended up being induced at 40+1, but I had to have been close to spontaneous labor because dilation began immediately. The contractions were intense though, and after 6 hours (5cm dilated) I had an epidural. I spent about 6 more hours in labor, and dilated the final 4cm in the space of an hour. The doctor was on the verge of recommending a CS for failure to progress.

I've researched this quite a bit and I happened upone statistics showing that a VBAC carries less risk for complications for mom and baby that a repeat csection does. Definately look into it and try if it's something you're willing to try.

I've had 3 cs first one was at 16 second at 17 because I was too young to really know enough about it and I allowed my dr to make the rules for my births, I know better now. There was no need for either of my cesareans beside doctor convenience. She tricked me into signing off because "she was supposed to leave for vacation" but couldn't until I finished labor info and could birth, she also lied on my med forms saying that I was given Pitocin and it was ineffective and I was at risk for infection. My water was only broken for a few hours and I was contracting on my own and when I was told I needed a c I hadn't even had an IV put in yet !!

Please make fully informed choices and don't be afraid to seek a second opinion, you only get one chance, and drs aren't always on your side. Do some research, make an informed educated birth plan and know what you want. It helps to have an advocate there with you, who knows your plan and isn't afraid to speak up if you can't. But also be aware that sometimes your birth plan will need to be adjusted to keep both you and baby safe!!

I'm hoping for a VBA3C. Still carries less risk than a fourth major surgery. I had to be resuscitated during my last and I defiantly don't want to do that again but being so young I want more children very much. I can't see myself with two children for the rest of my life. I've always dreamed of having many children. Hopefully I can find a dr to allow it.

I know a lot of doctors will allow a vbac after one csection if there were no complications. Such as the baby being in a breech position for ex. The more csection a you've had the more dangerous a vbac is. Deff ask your doctor if it means slot to you
