Previous torn nipple piercing and breastfeeding?

Well, in my younger years I got both nipples pierced. About 4 years ago, my left ring COMPLETELY ripped through. I had to tape my nipple back together until it healed (sorry for the visual).  It's still scarred and I took the right ring out immediately after I accidentally ripped the left one out. Anyway, I desperately want to breastfeed my son when he is born. My doctor looked at my nipple and doesn't think I'll have a problem, but I'm still skeptical.  Has anyone else out there been in a similar situation and been able to breastfeed successfully?

Hi Jessica! I stumbled across your post tonight and am curious on how breastfeeding has gone for you. I had my nipples pierced, mine didn't ever rip through, but I've had them done twice. So I'm concerned about the extra scar tissue. Hope all is well. Thanks!!

Yes! I've had my left nipple pierced for about 6 years, and took it out when I was about 12 weeks pregnant. I want to breast feed really bad, but the whole constantly has what looks like watery puss coming out. (Sorry for the visual) I have taken it out for a few months at a time before in the past, but never had this issue! It always healed. I am nervous to ask my doctor about this. I too, desperately want to breast feed. If it helps at all, despite my existing hole, milk still comes out of my nipple if I push on my breast. I think you will be fine. But you're not alone! How far along are you? I am 29 weeks.
