Spam and solicitation??

I started a new blog site about my life and was trying to get people on it. I know you guys are WAY more interested in my life than most of my friends on FaceBook. But I also heard it was spam and solicitation to promote sites and junk. So; question is, would I be doing these things and also would you be interested in going on my site and learning about the goings on of my brain? I'm not going to link it because I'm sure they'll call it spam then.
