Anyone have any success with reusable breast pads?

Question

I've been seeing a lot about reusable breast pads, but I'm wondering if they're worth the money ? To me it seems like just cutting a peice of fabric and putting in your bra, I can't see that being very absorbent. Trying to figure out which ones are best !!

I have Medela reusable pads. I love them at home but like the comment below they are very very noticeable. Even with a lined/slightly padded bra. I hate the disposable pads because they are so itchy but I wear those out right now until I can find a better reusable pad.

I had a massive over production of milk and went through pads like a mad woman! Also, I could never find a pad that fit me just right.  I am a 34DD and most past didn't curve to me they just weren't comfortable...my absolute favorite pad was Lansinoh.  I tried a Johnson and Johnson brand and omg where they itchy.  Lansinoh pads soft, shaped, and are also individually wrapped,  it is very convenient and they also stay clean when in a diaper bag or purse and traveling.

I liked the Lansinoh disposable pads. They were light and soft but absorbent and not noticeable. I also had a major let down issue and found these to be good. I had a reusable bamboo set (not bamboobies) and had all sorts of issues. They were absorbent but the disposables kept the moisture away from your skin like a period pad. The bamboo set didn't do that and it irritated my skin - even when using a nipple cream. My best bet was def Lansinoh!

Lansinoh worked best for me. I had a huge milk production too. Was putting out 8oz each breast every 3 hours...it wasn't fun :(

Reusable ones didn't cut it for me. They weren't as absorbent, and they were bulky. They also didn't stay in place well.

I thought at first that brand wouldn't matter and got some cheap disposables, but once I tried the Lansinoh brand I wouldn't go back. I had a strong letdown, and it made a huge difference to me in effectiveness and comfort.

I had some bamboo cotton ones (not bamboobies) with my first that were awesome! I think they were locally made because there isn't a brand on them. The overnight bamboobies work ok in the beginning with engorement I recall from baby #2. I still had some Medela disposables I remember using up then too. The Medela reusable ones were crap I thought and very noticeable. Same with the other brands Target sells ;) I really liked my WAHM bamboo cotton ones and the bamboobies.

If you have an "overactive" letdown they are pointless. They couldnt handle one letdown with leaking and i had the expensive bamboobies or whatever they're called.

After a few months and you have a schedule. Prior to that, you need disposable.
