Sex before marriage?

Hello Ladies,

I'm 19 years old and soon to be 20. My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 7 months now....and we've been very very intimate with each other. He and I had the talk about saving sex ONLY until we're married....but it's been so difficult. :'/ Has anyone of you ever had the same situation.....and really wanted sex before marriage? I made a promise to myself to never have sex until I'm married....and I'm scared that one day it may be broken. Have any of you broken this promise? How did you deal with it? Or if you didn't...what were ways that helped you get through it until you were married? I'm the only daughter in my family too....and I'm scared to bring shame to my family...if I ever got pregnant. I need some advice. :/

I always told myself I'd wait until marriage, mostly because I'm a Christian. But the struggle has come and it has been super difficult. I did lose my virginity but I realize that it's not what defines me. Just remember that even if you do lose it, you're not losing any of your self worth. You are still you, and if you were to become pregnant, you can get through it. If it becomes too much of a struggle for you, your best bet is to just walk away from the sex. I know that can seem impossible, but it's the best way to prevent it from happening.

I had the same mind set as you because i was brought up that way as well. I waited till i was 18 and the guy i had sex with I've been with for almost 2 years. I wanted it to be with someone special and it was.

Being raised as a Christian, I had the same mindset,but then I met my current  boyfriend. He's my one and only sexual partner. Honestly its a personal choice. Like one commenter mentioned, you can wait but once your married its possible you two won't have any sexual chemistry.

Not my experience personally, but a friend of mine waited until marriage and her and her husband realized they had no sexual compatibility/chemistry. Their marriage didn't last very long but they are still very good friends.

Make a promise never to have sex until you are ready.  And do not, feel guilty if that happens before marriage,  don't feel guilty if it's not with the man you end up marrying.  And for God sakes don't marry a man you don't love simply because you had sex with him.  
But teach Yourself about your body first.  Learn to masturbate,  become comfortable with what turns you on and how you work.  There is nothing shameful about that.  
That being said,  I have had friends who saved themselves for marriage and dated their so through high school.  It was hard I'm sure.  I know one couple would stop making out if the temptation was too much.  It is not easy.  In the end it is up to you. But please don't feel guilty if you choose to have sex before marriage.

My husband and I are Christian and when we were dating it was EXTREMELY hard to wait until marriage. We ended up having sex 5 days before the wedding. I was a virgin but he wasn't so it wasn't that big of a deal for him. But for me it was a huge deal and I wish I would have waited for my wedding night. It's between you and the Lord ultimately. I felt like I had grieved Him but of course God is forgiving. If you slip up you will feel bad but don't let it distance you from God. Marriage is meant to make you holy. Sex is just apart  of it. You have a whole life time to get better at it.

Everyone wants to have sex before marriage!! It's a normal human desire! But it's a sin in God's eyes. You can be strong. You can wait, with God's help. Don't do it. We waited until our wedding night and never regretted it... Compatibility wasn't an issue. (Can't imagine what people mean when they say that. Where true love is, anything will be awesome.😍)

I planned to wait because when I was younger I had a terrible dream that...well...I became a floozy. Strange I know but the dream was vivid enough that I remember how badly I felt about myself after sleeping around. Long story short I ended up waiting until I was 24 and had been dating my now husband for over 3 years. We had been intimate in other ways so I knew we had chemistry. Looking back (I'm now 30) part of me wishes I would have explored more? I love my husband and our sex life is great but I guess I just don't think sex is a big deal anymore. That said - I think when I was younger I didn't know myself as well and having more sexual partners could have emotionally damaged me. Overall I'm happy with the way things turned out.
