Tongue Piercing

I think I ripped my tongue piercing a few days ago either when I snagged it eating or during a cough attack I had early one morning when my mouth was extremely dry. I called my piercer and told them what happened and they said it should heal normally. Any advise? Should I just take it out? I'm nearly through my first 2 weeks and would hate to have gone through all the pain for nothin.....
