How many ultrasounds?

Apparently my crappy insurance only covers one ultrasound per normal pregnancy which means just one at around 20 weeks? Is this normal or is my insurance exceptionally crappy? At least there is elective place in town that I can pay for at least an early one and 3d/4d later on

It just depends on the insurance company. I don't think I could handle just 1 ultrasound.

I'm so glad I live in Australia.. Our health system has already covered 2 ultrasounds and I'm only 9 weeks, and I have another booked for 2 weeks from now, all without private health cover :)

One is technically all that's needed. I have had 2 so far and probably won't get another unless there's a problem.

Many docs only order one ultrasound for a healthy pregnancy. Maybe you can look at it as a reason to count your blessings if you have few complications and few ultrasounds:-)

I got one at 10 weeks, just had one at 13 weeks, next is 20 weeks then 26 and then 32 weeks.

Wow, so glad I live in SA! I get an US at each prenatal checkup which is roughly one a month. First one was at 6 weeks and having my 6th US next week (24 weeks). This is standard practice in SA.

I have medicaid (masshealth standard) and I've had 2 ultrasounds so far and I'm having another at 19 weeks. I asked my insurance what they cover for ultrasounds and apparently they're very lenient and let you get as many as you want if medically necessary.

The birth center I go to only allows 1 too 😕 I'm actually going to leave them for a hospital that also has the same perks of a birthing center but will be cheaper and probably allows more than 1 under my insurance
