throwing our own baby sprinkle?

i am 22 weeks with my second baby. since falling pregnant i just assumed i wasn't going to have a shower. i am a sahm mom and i don't have many friends or close family to me where i live (had to move for boyfriend's job) but he has friends, office mates and family here. but now i kind of want to throw a little party to celebrate the new little one before they arrive. maybe have drinks, appetizers, a onesie decorating station. i wouldn't ask for gifts but obviously wouldn't turn them down lol. would this be tacky? weird? opinions please!
