NST???

Question

My dr is sending me for a non stress test next week and said I'll likely have them weekly from now on I am 31 weeks now I'm just wondering if any other twin mommas have had this done and what it consists of exactly? They said its normal per me being high risk.

Yep, I had them weekly after 32 and 2x a week after 36. I actually liked them because it's one more reassurance that all is well with the babies.  My girls were very active so they had the required accelerations in 20-30 min. In and out in less than an hour total.

I had to have these with my daughter. I had to lay in a hospital bed with two monitors attached. They just keep track of the heart beat(in your case now, heartbeats lol), and monitor contractions if any. It only was an hour at a time for me. You will have these same monitors when it's time to have your babies. I personally found them uncomfortable. Also, don't be suprised if you feel a kick and the heartbeat disappears. That's very common for a baby to kick it off lol. I only had one, passed it, and then I had to be induced three days later anyway. But it's also very common to have them, sometimes twice a week. It's really kinda boring laying there, so bring a book, phone charger, something to keep you occupied.

My sister is pregnant with twins and does the nst weekly: they just put u in a comfy chair and monitor contractions. With my first child I was on it a lot. This pregnancy I've only done it once so far at 20 weeks

Totally normal for multiples pregnancy because you typically don't actually go to full term so they want to know where babies are at development wise when you do go into labor.

NST - they will monitor for contractions, monitor babies heart rates and ensure they have both a resting as well as "awake" heart rate increases (sometimes they have to use a noise maker to "wake" baby) & they will use ultrasound to watch babies practice breathing to ensure they are doing that for at least 30sec.

I had NSTs twice a week for the last month I was pregnant.
