Testing levels???

Question

Who has had a Hysterosalpingogram (hsg dye test) done. Tell me everything. I get on done on the 13th this month. 😁

I've never had one done myself but I'm an X-ray tech and have assisted doctors in this procedure. The ones we did you're basically set up like you would be for a pap. The doctor injected some numbing medication to your cervix then would inject the dye and we'd watch it go to the Fallopian tubes under live X-ray. It can become pretty uncomfortable so I would definitely take a pain reliever the night before and some the morning of if your doctor allows (the one I worked with always suggested Aleve). I know after the procedure the doctor would suggest not making love or bathing (can't remember for how long) because it would increase chances of infection. Again check with your doc. I had mine done about 3weeks ago. I was terrified I had heard so many bad things like how painful it was and bleeding etc.... The most uncomfortable part was the radiologist inserting the speculum. Once it is inserted they swabbed clean the cervix with betadine 3 times, inserted the balloon and injected the dye. I didn't feel a thing. It was cool watching the dye fill up the uterus and go through the tubes. It was not an unpleasant experience by any stretch. Also, they will be able to tell you if there is any blockage right then. FYI.... The "spotting/bleeding" is most likely just betadine and dye leaking out. Betadine has that color of the old period blood so I can see where some could mistake it for blood.
