Extreme breast / nipple pain?

I am 5w6d and woke up at midnight last night with shooting pains in my breast / nipple. A little background is that I have genetically (mom has it too) sensitive nipples - extremely sensitive to cold / chafing and when this happens - THEY HURT! My boobs have been tender for over three weeks but last night my left breast (the one that hurt) was super hot and it felt like my nipple was going to explode. I had to use a cold compress and seperate my nipple from my shirt with my hand to even fall back asleep. This morning it felt normal... I googled and haven't found anyone with the same issue which seems odd. Anyone else experienced this?
