Do you think adopted families are real families?

More in depth, do you think adopted kids feel that their adopted families have a real bond? Do you think mothers who adopt have real bonds with the kids hey adopt? Give any real life experiences you've had.

Yes, of course they are real families. Blood doesn't make a family- love does.

The families I know, very much so accept their adopted child as their own. Blood does not always mean family. It is far greater. When you think about it, your SO is not blood related. You choose to spend your life together. Its accepted. Same goes for adopted children.

I think it's totally possible to develop that bond but it's proabbly more work, but then I guess it may feel more valuable if you've both worked at it.

I know it can work. But i also know of a family where both adopted children have huge abandonment issue. It's infinitely better than not being adopted though

After having 3 biological children one of my cousins adopted a 4th child. I see no difference in the relationship with the adopted child vs biological. So very much a real famy

I know my dad, his brother and their adopted mom love each other very much. Their bond is very real. & I love my Mamaw regardless of her not being my blood grandmother. I also know my (aunt's husband) Uncle Mike, feels loved by his adopted family for sure. My SO's mother felt a special bond with her adopted parents before they passed away, she loved them very much and never thought of them as her not "real" parents. Some people who are abandoned in foster care may have issues but closed adoption is a lot different than that.
