Egg retrieval???

Hi ladies,

I'm really considering doing <a href="https://glowing.com/glow-fertility-program">ivf</a>. My husband has a low sperm count and my doctor is saying to go a more aggressive route. Would someone kindly share their egg retrieval story with me.....does it hurt....how is the recovery time....what do u feel?? This entire thing is scaring me. I need some ease.

I have donated my eggs 4 times (and now I have been TTC 13 cycles, go figure!) the injectables are simple if you're confident in yourself, I work in the medical field so it was a breeze for me. If you're not, have someone else do them. Procedure day goes like this: go in, change into gown, I've had both an injectable twilight and gas so you're completely under for the procedure. My mom and husband have taken me and They say I'm gone for 15 minutes, then I wake up and can leave within an hour! The reSt of the day I'm groggy but no pain! I took it easy and napped, drank lots of Gatorade to keep my electrolytes up! If it was bad, I wouldn't have done it multiple times! Good luck to you 😊

Egg retrieval really isn't bad at all. It depends how many eggs retrieved as to how much pain after but for me it was relatively pain free. The procedure itself takes about 30 min, you are asleep and won't remember a thing. That day you can rest and by the next day I felt normal except for a bit of fatigue. It's really not as scary as you would think. Trust me, IVF makes you tough and you do it all in hopes at the end you get the positive test.

The procedure itself wasn't that bad until a couple hours after I got home. Then I could barely move and was pretty sore the rest of the day. The next morning I wasn't too bad and thought I was through the worst of it, but boy was I wrong. By the afternoon the bloat kicked in big time and was super painful and made it hard to move around. It took me 5 days to completely recover. I went back to work 2 days later but I definitely shouldn't have as I could still barely walk. I had 24 eggs retrieved which is a lot so that's probably why my recovery took that long, but that was my experience.  If I was doing IVF again I'd take a whole week off starting the day of retrieval. Good luck!
