Okay - my husband and I are Godparents to our beautiful niece on my side of the family. We live four hours away from them. We just found out the baptism is scheduled on our one year wedding anniversary. My brother said the way they do baptisms at this church is they pick a Sunday for multiple children to get baptized so it's not just my niece. Meaning - they didn't really have a say in what Sunday this was going to happen. I want to be there for my niece so bad but at the same time I want to celebrate our one year with my husband in - what we've made - our home now. What do I do? Is it selfish of me to want to spend that time with my husband? Or do we just suck it up and be there for my family and niece on her special day?
